Laptop Distribution to Students
Thursday, November 19, 2015

Dear Parents and Guardians:

This year, the District will implement a “1-to-1” laptop program through the - Carolina Consortium for Enterprise Learning (CCEL)- Race to the Top grant to increase students’ access to current digital, content-rich resources to meet today’s standards, as well as to save valuable instructional time. In an effort to meet this expectation we will be deploying the laptop devices to all 9th-12th grade students to use throughout each school day in all of their classes, as well as provide the opportunity for students to take the device home to extend learning and to serve as an essential tool for research, project-based learning, online learning, assignments, assessments, presentations, and collaboration with their classmates and teachers after school hours. All 9th – 12th grade students will be receiving a new HP Stream Notebook with a power cord in a student bag.

It is the goal of CCEL and the district, through the use of technology to:

1)    ensure that students in a CCEL school will gain the academic, technologic and life skills necessary for success in college, careers and citizenship.

2)    allow educators in CCEL to provide engaging and rigorous standards-based curriculum, instruction and assessments that address each student’s needs and interests.

3)    provide a supportive learning environment that is conducive to personalized learning, enterprise learning and instruction that yields increased student, parent and teacher satisfaction.

4)    sustain enterprise learning and turn around schools by continuing CCEL collaboration, building and sustaining local and statewide partnership, improving climate and culture, and embedding continuous improvement methodologies across all areas of operations.

During the laptop distribution, the administration and technology department will be meeting with all students and parents to cover the general rules and guidelines for the use and care of the laptop. Please know that it is mandatory that you have your school ID and Digital Citizenship certificate in order to pick up your HP notebook.
