All About Education Scholarships

 Submit an online written response to the question: “How will a $3,000 scholarship for education will make a difference in your life?” (250 words or less) 

Criteria: Applicant must be at least 13 yeas of age or older at time of application; applicant must be a legal resident of the fifty United States or the District of Columbia and be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than fall of 2024) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher learning (college, university or trade school). 

Award Amount: $3,000

Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

 Criteria: Applicants must be high school seniors qualifying for graduation at the end of the current school session; have 3 letters of recommendations from a high school teacher, an administrator and a citizen of the community as well as an official (sealed) copy of transcript and be a resident of Orangeburg County or attend school in Orangeburg County and be of good moral character and reputation. Applications must contain 3 letters of recommendation, be complete, and transcript must have school seal. 

Award Amount: 5 - $1,000

  Gen and Kelly Tanable Student Scholarships 

Criteria: Applicants must be 9th – 12th grade high school students, college students or graduate school students who are legal U.S. residents. Students may study any major and attend any college in the U.S.

Americanism Essay Contest

Criteria: Applicant must be in grades 7 through 12 and must be sponsored by a Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) branch or Ladies Auxiliary unit. They must submit an essay on a sponsor-determined topic. Selection is based on the overall strength of the essay.

Award Amount: $5,000 (grand national winner), $2,500 – 1st Place, $1,500 – 2nd Place, and $1,000 – 3rd place)

 Annual Student Scholarship 

Criteria: Applicants must be university students who are struggling financially.

Award Amount: $2,000

AXA Achievement Scholarship

Criteria: Applicants must be high school seniors who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States for the entire 2018-2019 academic year. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal citizens living in one of the 50 united states, Washington, D.C. or Puerto Rico. Applicants must also demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, community or work-related activities (because reducing risk is woven into the fabric of our company, special consideration is given to achievements that empower society to mitigate risk through education and/or action in areas such as financial, environmental, health, safety and/or emergency preparedness).

 Award Amount: $2,500  or  $10,000  or  $25,000

College Prowler “No Essay” Monthly Scholarship

Criteria: Applicant must be a legal resident of the United States. International students with visas are also eligible. Applicants must currently attend, or within the next 12 months plan to enroll in, a high school or college listed on niche.com, or be the parent of at student who falls into one of those categories. Only one entry allowed per person each month. A new winner will be chosen each month.

Award Amount: $2,000

Do-Over Scholarship

Submit an online written response to the question: “If you could get one ‘do-over’ in life, what would it be and why?” (250 words or less)

Criteria: Applicants must be thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of application. Applicants must be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States of the District of Columbia. Applicants must be enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2024) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education.

Award Amount: $1,500

Application Deadline: June 30, 2018

Dr. Robert Howard/WHS Scholarship

Application Criteria - Must be a graduating senior from Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS. Must have achieved a cummulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  Must demonstrate financial need.  Should demonstrate a high level of school and community involvement.  Must attend Claflin University or South Carolina State University.

Education Matters Scholarship

Submit an online written response to the question: “What would you say to someone who thinks education does’t matter, or that college is a waste of time and money?” (250 words or less)

Applicants must be enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2023) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education.

Award Amount: $5,000

National Association of Federal Education Program Adminisration - NAFEPA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

 The purpose of the scholarship program is to financially support post-secondary education for qualifying seniors or high school graduates attending their first year of college. Two scholarships are for students pursuing a degree in Education. The other two scholarships may be awarded to applicants pursuing degrees in Education or any other field.

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. – International High School Essay Contest

Submit a response to the prompt: “What Actions Can You Take to Promote Social Justice and Embrace Diversity of All People.” 

Criteria: Applicants must be high school seniors who are college bound.

Award Amount: 1st Place - $5,000; 2nd Place - $3,000; 3rd - $2,000 and 4th - $1,000

Application Deadline: October 30, 2017

Completed scholarships must be submitted to an active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated (Mr. Mack or Mr. Young). Pierce/Zimmerman Scholarship

The Pierce/Zimmerman Scholarship Fund was created in honor of the Pierce and Zimmerman family mem-bers who were employees of South Carolina State University for decades. The purpose of the Fund is to provide scholarships for students who choose to attend South Carolina State University, Claflin University or Orangeburg Technical College, pursuing majors in specific interests such as Computer Science, Math, or Engineering. Graduate Students who choose to attend South Carolina State University or Claflin Univer-sity whose undergraduate degree is in one of the majors listed above shall also be eligible to apply.

.SunTrust “Off to College” Scholarship Sweepstakes

Criteria: Applicants must be a high school senior planning to attend college or a current college student who will be continuing their undergraduate students this fall. Applicants must live in one of the following states: Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia.

Award Amount: $1,000

Application Deadline: May 12, 2018

Superpower Scholarship

The American Legion Department of South Carolina H.W. Dare Maness HS Oratorical Scholarship

"A Constitutional Speech Contest"

General Information - The purpose of teh American Legion HS Oratorical Scholarship Program is to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States on the part of high school students. Other objectives of the contest include the development of leadership, the ability to think and speak clearly and intelligently, and the preparation for acceptance of the duties and responsibilities, the rights and priviledges of American citizenship.

The Tom Joyner "Full Ride" Scholarship will cover ALL expenses of one student planning to attend a Historically Black College or University in the Fall of 2018.
